The sign-up sheet for adopting a family for Thanksgiving is in the back of the church. Please fill in your name and phone number and take a tab from the sheet. Purchase and bring the complete uncooked meal, including a frozen turkey, to the church basement on Sunday, November 24th between 8:30 am and 10:30 am. If you choose not to adopt a family, but you would still like to help out, we can always use extra food. Please see the bulletin for details. November 1st is All Saints Day and First Friday. Masses are at 9:00 am and 7:00 pm. Adoration is from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Two guardians are needed for each hour. There is a sign-up sheet in the back of the church.
Teen Fusion will participate in the Hudson Valley Walk to defeat A.L.S. on Sunday, October 2oth at the Walkway over the Hudson (beginning at the Highland/west entrance). In-house Intramural Registration is open online for boys and girls in grades 3 thru 8 at www.stchris-sylviacyobasketball.com. Cost is $80 per player and $130 per family. Evaluations are October 19th: 10 am for 7/8 boys; 11 am for 3/4 boys, 12 pm for 5/6 boys; 1 pm for 6/7/8 girls; 2 pm for 3/4/5 girls.
On Friday, November 15th, Teen Fusion will host their annual Veterans Dinner to honor those who have served our country. All Veterans are welcome to attend and bring a guest. A wonderful way to get in the holiday spirit and show your artistic side by painting a beautiful manger scene. Our instructor, Danielle Waz, is a certified Visual Arts teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. Cost is $40 per person. Sign up early as we can only accommodate 30 participants. Helping Hands for Others (H20) is a newly formed ministry at St. Christopher-St. Sylvia Parish. Our members will be helping people in our community who have difficulty doing things because of age, sickness, disability, finances, etc. The only skill required is the desire to help, and the time visiting is as important as the work being done. We will be having a meeting of all volunteers in a few weeks.
The Knights of Columbus will hold a Rosary Rally in the new Rosary Garden on the south side of our church on Sunday, October 13th after 12pm Mass. October 13th is the feast of the last apparition of Our Lady of Fatima.
